Sussex Montessori School qualifies to receive federal funding through the Title 1 program. “Title I, Part A (Title I) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESEA) provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.” (US Department of Education, 2018) For more information about Title 1 at Sussex Montessori School please reference the documents included below.

As we prepare for Fall Goal Setting Conferences, we invite SMS families to join us for our Title 1 Annual Meeting/Open House. Our staff will walk you through the Title 1 program and responsibilities including the updated schoolwide plan, school-parent compact and family engagement policy/ opportunities at Sussex Montessori School. Topics covered include an overview of Sussex Montessori’s Title 1 Program and Parent’s Rights, Overview of the Montessori Curriculum, Assessments and Learning tools, Parent Engagement opportunities and why Parent Involvement is essential to student success. Gain insight, information and empowerment to support your child’s growth and success!

The purpose of the Annual Evaluation Meeting is to provide parents, staff, and community stakeholders with an overview of the community needs assessment and implementation of Sussex Montessori’s Title 1 schoolwide plan and family engagement policy during the 2023-2024 school year. Participants will have the opportunity to provide necessary, valuable feedback on the schoolwide plan, school-parent compact and family engagement policy for upcoming school year.

 

 

 

 

Student Success Year-End Meeting – May 28, 2024

The Student Success Committee met in May 2024 for an end-of-year overview on school and student growth, progress, initiatives and success. The team reviewed Sussex Montessori’s education/school plan, goals, initiatives, interventions and accomplishments as indicated in the following areas: student attendance, behavior, assessment scores (DIBELS, STAR math and reading, DESSA), special populations, Aperture/Child Study, student and family support services.

Title 1 Annual Meeting (2021-2022 school year) – September 16th & 23, 2021, 6:30PM

Save the Date and join us for this virtual open house event at 6:30pm Thursday, September 16th for Grade K/1 families and Thursday, September 23rd for Grade 2/3/4 families. Our staff will walk you through the Title 1 program and responsibilities including the updated Schoolwide Plan, School-Parent Compact, Parent and Family Engagement opportunities at Sussex Montessori School.  This meeting will be followed by family/class orientation session with your child’s teacher.

Many, MANY thanks to the incredible parents who reviewed and help developed a robust Parent-Family Engagement Policy.  Next step, begin the process of developing our School Improvement Plan (SIP) for next year! This meeting is an intro into the SIP process and will also include a fun parent activity!
